How your rashi is decided and what a horoscope is built from.

How is my rashi decided?

In Indian astrology your rashi is the Moon's position at birth, not the Sun's. That is why your Indian rashi often differs from the sign in an English newspaper horoscope.

What is a daily horoscope built from?

A daily rashifal is built mainly on transits — where the planets are today and which house they fall in from your Moon sign. It is not a substitute for a full chart, since everyone sharing a rashi does not share a chart.

Is a daily horoscope actually useful?

It is general information divided twelve ways, so treat it as a hint rather than an instruction. A reading built from your own chart is far more specific.

How do weekly and monthly horoscopes differ?

A week is shaped by the faster movers — Moon, Mercury, Venus. A month is shaped by the Sun's change of sign and Mars's motion. The longer the period, the more the slow planets dominate.

Is there any basis for a 'lucky colour'?

Colours are associated with planets — red with Mars, black with Saturn, yellow with Jupiter. It is part of tradition, not a guarantee. Treat it as a light daily habit.

Can a horoscope tell me when to bet?

No. Samay never describes any period as favourable for betting, lottery, gambling or a trade — not even when asked directly. This is a hard rule, not a tone.
